Digital Photography And Imaging - Week 9
Lectures:
In Week 9, Mr. Fauzi introduced the concept of Digital Surrealism and explained the difference between Realism and Surrealism.
Realism focuses on real-life subjects and familiar scenes, while surrealism transforms reality by adding imagination, dreams, and emotional meaning.
He also explained our final project, which requires us to design a self-titled digital poster and later animate it.
Through examples of previous students’ work, I understood that the project is not only about technical skills, but also about expressing personal stories and identity through digital image manipulation.
This lecture helped me realize that digital photography can be used as a tool to reinterpret reality and communicate ideas creatively, rather than simply showing what is real.
During the tutorial, Mr. Fauzi emphasized the importance of composition in digital surrealism.
He explained that collage techniques are one of the most effective ways to study composition and visual arrangement.
We learned that starting from sketches and physical collages helps train our visual thinking before moving into digital software.
This process allows us to explore layout, mood, and direction step by step, and later apply these ideas using Photoshop and After Effects.
Practical:
This week, I focused on developing my final project (Project 4: Self-Titled).I began preparing for my final work by searching for visual references and creating a moodboard.I collected images related to atmosphere, color, composition, and surreal elements that matched the direction of my self-titled project.
The moodboard helped me clarify the overall mood and visual style I want to achieve in my final artwork.Through this process, I was able to connect the concept of digital surrealism with my personal ideas and plan the direction of my final work more clearly.
