Digital Photography And Imaging - Week 10

Lectures:

In Week 10, Mr. Fauzi introduced Adobe After Effects and explained its role in digital imaging and animation.Mr. Fauzi also explained how to link Photoshop files into After Effects.

He emphasized the importance of pre-compositing in Photoshop, such as organizing, arranging, and renaming layers properly. This makes it easier to animate each element later in After Effects.

Through this lecture, I understood how still images can be transformed into moving images by using a clear compositing workflow from Photoshop to After Effects.

Tutorial:

Digital Photography & Imaging - FAUZI YUSOFF

During the tutorial, we looked at examples of previous students’ works that showed the process from still images to animated visuals.
Mr. Fauzi explained the basic idea of compositing in After Effects, where multiple layers from Photoshop are animated in sequence.
This helped me understand how animation is built step by step, rather than all at once.

The tutorial made me more familiar with how Photoshop and After Effects work together as a workflow for final projects.

Practical:

Based on my childhood winter memories, I created three concept sketches for my final project.
The sketches mainly revolve around the idea of winter nostalgia, imagination, and emotional warmth hidden within cold surroundings.
They are inspired by my memories of snowy days, the fantasy of dancing inside a snow globe, and moments of comfort and connection, such as holding a lamb in the snow.
Through these sketches, I explored how cold environments can visually represent warmth, memories, and longing, while also planning how these still images could later be transformed into subtle and poetic animations in After Effects.
