PROJECT 1B - DIGITAL IMAGING EXERCISE 2

Reflective Writing

Through Project 1 , I gradually built a basic understanding of collage and image composition.
Starting with physical collages, I learned how simple materials could still create strong visual impact through composition, balance, and contrast. This helped me understand visual relationships before moving fully into digital work.

As the project continued, I became more familiar with using Photoshop for digital collage.I learned how to work with layers, masking, blending modes, and adjustment layers to combine different images more naturally.Practices such as recolouring black-and-white images and basic photo manipulation helped me explore different visual effects and creative ideas.

During this project, I also realised how important lighting, contrast, and colour consistency are when putting multiple images into one composition.Following tutorials helped me understand the technical steps, while applying them to my own work encouraged me to think more independently.Although some parts were challenging at first, Project 1 helped me gain confidence in using Photoshop and prepared me for more complex projects later in the semester.
